ECC Ireland and the Law Society hosts joint seminar on alternative dispute resolution.
Dublin, 29th October 2015 - The European Consumer Centre in Ireland and the Law Society of Ireland have today hosted a joint seminar on alternative dispute resolution and online dispute resolution.

The event, which was held at the Law Society buildings in Blackhall Place, was opened by Isolde Goggin, Chairperson of the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission. Ms Goggin highlighted the benefits of effective and transparent dispute resolution mechanisms for consumers and businesses across Europe, saying, “This new regime affords businesses the opportunity to offer their customers access to independently assessed and monitored alternative and on-line dispute resolution services. Effective schemes have clear benefits, for consumers and businesses, in terms of the time and cost of settling disputes but also in building trust and confidence in traditional and online markets. The Commission’s new role as the competent authority for assessing dispute resolution entities in Ireland and monitoring their activities ties in well with our overall mission to make markets work better for consumers and businesses.”
The seminar provided a timely opportunity for stakeholders to discuss EU legislation on alternative dispute resolution (ADR) and online dispute resolution (ODR).
